Why FLX Paint?

This 2008 Charger’s Racing Stripe Kit was only 14 months old, and look at what happened to the Metallic Vinyl.  THIS WILL HAPPEN TO EVEN THE BEST METALLIC VINYL IN THE SUN.  Even after the stripes are removed you can see damage has occured to the paint.  Calendared Vinyl is rated for Vertical installation only not Horizontal (hood , roof, Trunk).  Even Shelby GT stripes burn and crack after less than two years.  I have personally replaced over a dozen Shelby GT and Shelby-H racing stripes that were less than two years old.

What is the solution?  FLX PAINTED VINYL.  It is not vinyl IT IS BASECOAT / CLEARCOAT PAINT bonded to vinyl as one piece.  It is the same type of paint used to paint your car.  FLX PAINTED VINYL can be waxed, sanded, buffed just like paint because it is paint!

Auto-Morphosis offers FLX PAINTED VINYL as an option on all of our kits.  Choose FLX PAINT for your vehicle and it will have a rich wet look .  It comes in metallic, Kandy metallic, and pastel colors it is much glossier than vinyl and weathers better.   It also is backed by the manufacturer with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.  Visit flxpaint.com for more info and color choices.

Racing Stripes or Graphics Painted Vs. Vinyl or Both?

When you want to completely change the look of your Mustang, Charger, Challenger, Camaro or other vehicle.  Racing stripes not only make it look fast but improve the value of the car making it look like a Shelby or GT or more expensive car.

Should you spend $1500 to $2000 on a paint job or should you use vinyl.  Both if professionally done can look good but consider your climate where you live.   If you live in a place where it its sunny and hot most of the time, you may want to consider a third option.   Vinyl stripes even the high performance 7 to 9 year calendared vinyl will fade if you put silver on a black car.  A good example is the Ford Shelby GT a lower end model from the GT 500, the Shelby GT came with 9 inch vinyl in Silver.  Most of these were on Vista Blue or Black cars.   If you live in Texas like I do this scheme will last about a year.  If another color was used it may last longer but remember that vinyl rated for 7 to 9 years is for a vertical application like the doors not horizontal application like hood, roof etc.  The manufacturer usually puts a 1 year warranty or no warranty on horizontal applications.

What about Paint?

Painted stripes will look wonderful if done right.  The car will be sanded on all surfaces that will get the stripes.  This means that your car will be sanded based with color and clear coat applied to the bumpers, hood, roof, trunk, spoiler etc.  These will VOID YOUR FACTORY PAINT WARRANTY.  If you plan on keeping your car for life or you have no warranty maybe this does not matter.  And if the $1800 price tag is something you can handle these stripes usually have no edge and last as long as the paint if your painter uses comparable material and knows how to layout the stripes straight and true.  I have seen a $40k plus mustang that had body kits upgrades and an “Elanor” paint job with stripes that were slanted on the back bumper.

What is the third option?

The third choice is PAINTED VINYL.  What is it?  It is high performance vinyl that is coated with base coat clear coat urethane paint and bonded together as one piece.  Why use this?  Because you don’t void your factory paint job and you have a finished product that can be buffed waxed and cared for like paint because it is paint.  It is more durable than Paint Protection Film that is used to ward off rock chips and comes with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.    It will last as long as your paint if you care for it well.  In addition to the benefits of the quick 2 or 3 hours installation time of vinyl it has the look of your best paint job.  Painted Vinyl comes in wet look candy colors and rich metallics.  Like Candy Apple Red, Envy Green, Sparkle Silver, and others that have the look of the best paint job with color “flop” and the characteristics of a custom paint job for about half the price.
